Paper Penguins, 24 hour flu, chicken sandwiches and a phone call from Nea

Well today was another exciting day at the Minko household. The youngest Clark, the poor thing, had the stomach flu. He was up throwing up the night before and threw up one more time this morning after his parents had left. It's horrible watching a young child get sick, It's pretty horrible watching a friend get sick (From the flu...or more likely alcohol) but watching a five year old get sick is 700x worse. I felt so bad for him, he couldn't keep anything down not even sips of water and he just got so upset, and there was nothing I could do to comfort him but rub his back tell him over and over that "It will all be over soon and you can go play again." Since Clark was sick and sitting on the couch watching his brothers play all day, there were no trantrums, but quite frankly I would have rather had a happy, playful, healthy clark with the tantrums than have him sick.

The highlight of babysitting today was the stuff I brought along for them to do today. Since yesterday was so hard with being inside all day and having nothing to occupy them I decide to bring over projects, I had a sneaking suspicion that Jack would like word searches and crossword puzzles and that the younger to might like making Popsicle stick frames and paper penguin finger puppets and I was correct, horay! The nanny did something right! Grant and Clark happily made the penguins while Jack did a word search that was apparently "Very hard" which I was happy about because he's the smartest 9 year old I've ever met and I was afraid it would be "Baby stuff" to him. This was a nice project for after breakfast. The boys also agreed to read twice today, which is two times more than yesterday :o) They're pretty good about reading if you just make them sit down and do it. Jack through a fit today both times he had to read but then agreed to read 3 chapters, (when 5 pages before was a lot) after lunch because he "Actually really liked" his book. He's reading where the red fern grows...now I can't remember exactly what grade we read that book....but I swear it was in middle school...Grant is a 3rd grader....honestly he's so smart. Anyway overall the day went really well and I got out early (as you can probably tell given the time) because Mr. Minko (or David) he told me to call him today decided to come home at lunch so that he could take care of Clark.

About the rest of my life....yeah there really isn't much too it. It's been made very exciting with these three little boys and I'm hoping to spend some time with Rachel a little later tonight after shes done with work. Tomorrow I plan on heading into Madison sometime in the late afternoon and spending some time with Andrew and his roommates and hopefully Amy as well. I have Raccoon stickers for Derek's printer so I want to make sure I give them to him (There already in my wallet :oD) What else happened today. I got a $25 itunes gift card from my Grandma Betty for Christmas in the mail which is pretty exciting and I'm nearly half way finished with my book. It's so good, I have a hard time putting it down. I'm really excited that I've already gotten so much of it read because I didn't start reading anything until so late in break I thought there was no way I could finish it before classes started up again. Now, after getting so much read in a few days, I'm thinking I might just be able to pull it off. I had a lovely conversation with Ms. Nea today. I really enjoyed talking to her on the phone while I made the boys lunch and I hung up just in time for Mr. er... I mean David to walk in from work. He paid me today which is also nice, I get paid in cash which is nice but weird, I'm used to having no cash on me at all and now all of sudden my wallet is bursting with money and $20's at that. It's making me nervous so I think I'll put it all in the bank later today or tomorrow.

Sleep has been going surprisingly well for me. It's been taking me quite a long time to fall asleep and the night before yesterday knowing I had to get up so early and that I needed to be on my game to take care of the boys I took a sleeping pill but last night I fell asleep just fine on my own. Apparently getting in bed at 9 reading until 10 and then falling asleep around 11:30 works out for me. Ideally I'd like to be sleeping by 10:30 for class next semester but getting in bed at 8 is just not going to happen. I'll have to see if I can do better tonight. I'm determined to wake up in the morning and take Cohen for a walk. He went to the vet today and apparently he's nearly 15 lbs over weight! You wouldn't think that looking at him but he needs some good exercise, and according to my sleep therapist (The OC Anyone? Taylor? No?) getting a little sunlight in the morning is good for falling asleep easier at night...I'm not sure why that is, or how it works but she's the professional so I'll have to trust her I guess :o).

Well I've already rambled more than I'm sure anyone wanted to read so tah tah for now!
